hello, world

From the moment I considered starting a blog I knew I wanted my first post to be a “hello world” post, similar to the traditional first program that a programmer writes in a new language. A “hello world” program simply displays the greeting “hello world” — it gives the programmer their first introduction to the syntax of the language, and a sense of satisfaction at producing a working program.

However, when I signed up I discovered WordPress had beaten me to it, with their own “Hello world!” post on my blog! I feel a little cheated, but nevertheless I’ll follow their advice and replace it with my own first post:

hello, world
